Swimming is a sport activities that needs overhead activity with internal rotation repeatedly, especially free style swimmers.Athlete or profession swimmer will have shoulder impingement and rotator cuff tendinitis easily .

Shoulder impingement sign & symptom:
- Feel plain and tenderness in the glenohumeral joint area.
- The patients feel plain when they perform the movement of overhead movement with internal rotation.
- Impingement limited the internal rotation degree when compare to the normal arm.
- The painful arc of the patient is from 60 degree to 120 degree.
- Rotator cuff tender and bursa get inflammation, feel pain when raising arm.
Prevention method
Strengthening exercise
Shoulder external rotation exercise with elastic band
Help to create high levels of supraspinatus muscular activation.
Procedures:
1. One side elastic band tight on a stable object
2 .Stand with the arm abduction to 90 degrees and hold one side of the elastic band
3. Elbow as a fix point, rotate the shoulder than return slowly.
10-20 reps/set, 2-3 sets/time, 3 times/week
Precaution: elbow fix near the body
